THE WAITAKI POWER BOARD

TO TUE EDITOR. Sir, —Some years back when a letter by myself criticised others, you suggested that it was hardly fair to write over a nom-de-plume, and ever since I have, with one exception, written over my own signature. May I suggest that it is only fair that “ Ratepayer ’’ do likewise? My letter was in reference to the right of those who had given a notice of motion to be allowed to speak to that motion; especially when it referred to employees’ lives being endangered. The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church is rightly regarded as one of the most judicial bodies of men in_ the Dominion—a body most particular in regard to points of order and mode of procedure. As I have been honoured by being chosen as a delegate to it for several years, I am in a position to assert that a notice of motion confers on the mover a right to speak to his motiqjj. “ Ratepayer ” seems to support the German nation, that might is right, and that because a self appointed .committee inquired into a matter involving a danger to employees, therefore, the minority had no say in the matter. May I remind him of. the big majority there was. when One in Whom the judge declared “he could find no fault ” was on trial that cried out, “ Not this man, but Barabbas ”?—I am, etc., G. Stringer. Oamaru, November 3.
