PROFESSIONAL BOXING

THE BUCKLEY-RAYNER BOUT. Charlie Buckley, of Dunedin,-will meet Clarrie Rayner, of Blenheim, in a 15round professional feather-weight contest at the Town Hall on Monday night, and this is expected to provide one of- - the fastest and most willing fights seen here for some time. Buckley has always been a favourite with local crowds, and be has been boxing so well in training and is in such good form that he is expected to give a great account of himself against the promising Marlborough boxer. Rayner comes here with the reputation of being one of the greatest erowd-pleasers in the game and a boy possessed of great variety in attack. He hits from all angles, and is a two-handed, clever boxer with a punch. He will find that Buckley can give as well as take it, and the result should be a bout that is full of action. Rayner is a member of a well-known Marlborough fighting family, and has the reputation of being one of the classiest feather-weights in the game at present. He won the New Zealand amateur title convincingly this year, and was selected in . the New Zealand team to go to Australia, but was not available. Monday night will mark his first appearance in Dunedin, and as the winner is to meet Colin Jones there will .be more than ordinary interest in the outcome of the bout. £he preliminaries should also be of good standard-, and among them will be a contest between W. Laing and D. Christian (Oamaru), who provided the beet bout at the recent amateur tournament. Arnott (Milton) will meet Ramsay in another of the amateur- preliminaries. Particulars are advertised.
