THE NEW AUTOGIRO

REMARKABLE TESTS HIGH RATE OF SPEEDS. LONDON, October 31. (Received Nov. 1, at 7 p.m.) The Daily Herald says: “The new Cierva autogiro passed remarkable tests at Hanworth aerodrome and its top speed is now actually higher than that of fixed wing aeroplanes of the same horse-power. It not only reached 120 miles ,an hour at Hanworth, but hung absolutely stationary for several seconds. It left the ground with a run of _ less than 10 yards. When the Air approves the machine production will start on a commercial basis and the new autogiros should be ready in April.”
