TAPANUI NOTES

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAPANUI, October 30. POLICE COURT. * Before Messrs J. W. Jarrold, J.P., and H. J. Hay, J.P., on Monday, ..Charles Crisp, of Kelso, was charged with assault. Evidence was given by Blamires, who staged that the accused assaulted his mother on Sunday ? morning, striking her a blow on the face and-arm, and as a result medical assistance had to be obtained. —Dr Robertson also gave evidence and outlined the nature of the injuries. Mrs Crisp was at present confined to bed.

In pleading guilty, the accused stated that he did not remember striking hie mother, and stated that the bruises were caused by a fall. He was convicted and fined £1 and witnesses’ expenses (10s 6d).
