ROWING ASSOCIATION
CHAMPIONSHIP AT PICTON EIGHTS RACE ALLOTTED TO WELLINGTON. (Per United Press Association.! WELLINGTON, October 31. * The New Zealand championship rowing regatta has been allocated to the Maryborough Association and will be rowed at Picton on February 17. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association tonight applications were received from the Otago, Marlborough and Wellington Associations for the interprovincial championship eights, and these, on a vote being taken, were allocated to Wellington, the date being fixed as Easter Saturday. It was decided to circularise the local associations asking whether in .the event of a visit from-New South Wales oarsmen they could nominate a specified amount and if the replies were favourable to proceed with the invitation. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr W. J. Girling (Marlborough) ; vice-presidents, Messrs A. C. Nordcn (Auckland) and F. W. Mothes (Wellington) ; council—Messrs R. G. Duncan, T. M. and D. R. Mcnzies (Wellington), . Lauchlan (Wanganui), H. Paton (Otago), A. Ross (East Coast), M. A. Turner (Canterbury) ; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. D. Bayfield; auditor, Mr W. Wheeler.
