THE EXHIBITION LAWN TENNIS MATCHES
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —We think the remarks in Thursday’s Daily Times concerning Perry’s play at Logan Park were hardly fair. Perry was evidently not familiar with such courts as those at Logan Park, but it was not true that he showed distress; in fact, he appeared quite unconcerned. Even the best players have “off” days, and Perry took his defeat like any true sportsman. One would have expected that his record as a tennis player would have saved him from such unfair criticism. Your reporter would have served the game of lawn tennis better if he had drawn attention to the condition of the court. Evidently, those in charge of the arrangements have never played first class lawn tennis, or they would not have expected our visitors to play on courts over which the crowd, during the interval, ,tramped and deposited matches and cigarette ends. It is to be hoped that, when we are again fortunate to secure a visit from famous players, the arrangements will be in the hands of more competent people.—We are, etc., Two Schoolgirl Onlookers.
