ST. JOSEPH’S ORPHANAGE BAND

A concert with an appeal to al!_ musiclovers will be given to-morrow night in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. The proceeds will go to help defray the expenses of the St., Joseph’s Orphanage Band’s visit to the Invercargill contest. The programme will include selections by band, and items will be contributed by Misses Bessie Gallien (soprano), Mollie Fenton (contralto), Messrs R. A. King (baritone), D. Fogarty (tenor), Masters Horace Maloney (euphonium), and Peter Glen (tenor horn). St. Philomena’s College Choir (winners of the recent Secondary Schools’ Choir contest) will also be heard in two numbers. This will be the first appearance of the band in the new uniform. The band, which will compete in the B and C Grade Quickstep and C Grade Test Selection, will leave Dunedin on Friday afternoon after marching through Princes and Stuart streets en route to the Railway Station.
