MOSGIEL CITIZENS’ ASSOCIATION

v Mr a Millar (president) presided at , the meeting-of the Mosgiel Citizens Association last night. T , , A letter was read from the Green Island, town clerk regarding improvements to transport services. The matter had not been lost sight of and it was intended to hold a meeting at an early date.— Noted.’ Messrs Smeaton and Gibson reported/ having attended the last meeting of the I Borough Council. A discussion arose on unused streets being fenced off, thus pedestrians from using them.—lt was decided to interview the Borough Council on this matter. The danger to pedestrians through motor traffic at the Mosgiel Hotel cornerwas mentioned, and a moti6n was carried that blocks lying in the borough yard at present be used to regulate traffic. Also that the council be asked to take steps to purchase a strip of ground to widen the street at this point to give more way to traffic. The chairman regretted there was not a larger attendance. There was much useful work to be done, if members would only attend. Their main objec't was to labour for the good of citizens, and it was discouraging when members took up a disinterested attitude. He urged all present to stir up some enthusiasm in their fellow members. .
