QUEEN CARNIVAL

NEARLY £SOOO RAISED A meeting of the Central Executive Committee which conducted the Queen Carnival was held yesterday and was attended by Messrs J. J. Marlow (chairman), H. Harris, S. Pitt, H. L. Paterson, and Major Mead, The chairman referred to the gratifying result of the carnival, a result largely due to the efforts of the various queen committees. To the chairman and members of these committees, as well as to all who assisted in any way towards the end achieved, the thanks of the Central Executive and of the community generally were extended. It was resolved that the honorary treasurer be authorised to hand over to the chairman of the trustees of the Mayor's Relief Organisation (Mr A, C. Matheson) the sum of £4860. As soon as accounts were finally adjusted it was expected that a further sum would be available.
