UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF

LOCAL ACTIVITIES GROUPS TO REPORT. The following groups will report for work to-day:— D.C.C. RESERVES DEPARTMENT. 229, at Rest Home, Roslyn (at 8 a.m.). 309, at Morningtoii football ground (at 12.30 p.m.). A WELCOME CONTRIBUTION A cheque for £ls 8s 4d, the net proceeds of the Capping Ball, held recently in the Town Hall, was received yesterday by the Mayor (the Rev. E. T. Cox), as a contribution from the Otago University Students' Association towards the Mayor's Relief Fund. CONCERT AT Y.M.CA A concert was held in the unemployed social club room in the Y.M.CA. on Thursday night, the items being provided by the pupils of Miss Baxter and the Misses EckhofT, and also Miss. Jimsie Eraser, the following'contributing items: —Margaret Long and Peggy Harvey (duet), Mr Burnett (song), Mr Erskine (song), Master Trevor Phillips (tap dance), Doreen Scoullar (equestrian dance), Violet Polworth (classic dance), Netty Puller (Irish jig and waltz clog dance), Mr Anderson (recitation), "Uncle Ben," from 4ZO (accordion solos), Messrs Bowie and M'Lay (sketch). Mr Currie conducted a community "sing" at the end of the programme: Mr S. Fox, the chairman, then called upon Mr Miller to move a vote of thanks to all those who had come forward to help cheer up all those who were present. The committee also acknowledges dona- : tions of books, magazines and games and other gifts to the room. Miss Baxter and Miss Paterson and Piper Gordon Crighton were the accompanists for the concert. ROSLYN DEPOT The committee of the Roslyn Relief Depot gratefully acknowledges receipt of parcels from the following tradespeople: —Armit and Co. 59, James 1, Goodley and Sons 63, Hislop 8, Hunter 6, Kingston 10, Laurenson and Son 14, Mitchell 15, M'Farlane 3, M'Kay Bros. 74, M'Kinlay 2, Miss Robertson 3, Shirley . 15, Wardell 3. Also donation of jam, Miss Dalrymple;. vegetables, Dr Falconer.
