NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE REFUGE FROM HIGH TAXES. NEW YORK, September 23. (Received Sept. 24, at 10 p.m.) The selection of Newark (New Jersey) as a site for the new Stock Exchange is announced by the New York Stock Exchange as a means of refuge from the high taxes on brokers' profits and stock transfers proposed by New York City. The new exchange is expected to open on October 2.
