BOWLING

OTAGO LADIES' ASSOCIATION OPENING OF SEASON. The opening function of the Otago Ladies-' Bowling Association in connection with this season's play was held on Saturday afternoon on the green at Logan Park. The main object of the early start was to secure the co-operation of all bowlers prior to the other clubs starting, for the purpose of raising funds towards the completion of the second green. There were four stalls for the sale of goods, conducted as follows: —Cakes, Mrs Rigby and Mrs Ferguson; sweets, Mrs J. Morton and Mrs David; flowers and produce, Mrs Gillies and Mrs B. Ferguson; fancy, Miss Gillies and Mrs Thomson.

The president of the association (Mrs G. G. Adess) welcomed those present, and asked for assistance to clear the debt. She mentioned the good work that had "been done in the past, and spoke of the valuable help given by both bowlers since the executive had been in office.

The president of the New Zealand Bowling Association (Mr H. Rowley) congratulated the lady bowlers, and expressed pleasure that they were starting a new green, which would be very helpful itt tournament play. Mr J. Forster, vicepresident of the Dunedin Centre, endorsed what Mr Rowley had said, and referred to the happy relations between the two bodies. -

ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES. The annual meeting of delegates to the Otago Ladies' Bowling Association wag held on Wednesday last. Mrs G. G. Adess presided over a full attendance of members. The annual report was read and adopted, and the president commented on the excellent position of the association. Mrs Adess welcomed the new delegates and expressed the wish that members would do all they could to secure members for the Ladies' Association's green. ... The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs G. G. Adess (St. Kilda); senior vice-president, Mrs G. Braithwaite (Port Chalmers): junior vice-president, Mrs E. Mullenger (Roslyn); hon. secretary, Mrs J. Cooke (Otago); hon. treasurer, .Mrs F. A. Thomson (Anderson's Bay); sub-committee, 0.L.8A. green—Mesdames Adess and Cooke, ana Miss Gillies; green supervisor, Mr H. Rowley; auditor, Mr ,F. A. Thomson; committee Mesdames R. Johnston (Caversham), H. Kane (Green Island), B. Ferguson (Leith), S. Hutchison guson (Otago), F. David (West Harbour), J. Sparrow (St. Clair), Miss M. Gillies (Dunedin), atld Mrs Baker, (Kaikorai). Delegates for the outlying clubs were appointed as follows:—Awamoa, Mrs A. Gillies (Dunedin); Phcenlx, Heriot, Wanaka, Waikouaiti, Mrs H. Duncan (North-East Valley); Milton, . Miller's Flat, and.
