Russell withdrew his nomination for the vacancy on the Borough Council caused by the resignation of Cr Simon Wright, and the only other nominee, Mr William Currie, was declared elected unopposed. . Dixon, S.M., Andrew Sharpe, Ltd., sawmillers, of Tawanui, were charged with allowing sawdust or, sawmill refuse to get into a river in which trout existed, v Similar informations :were lanr _agarnst Hogg and Co., and Latta Bros.—Mr P. b. Anderson appeared for the Acclimatisation Society; Mr Thomson for Hogg and Co. Mr R. R. Grigor. for Andrew Sharpe, Ltd., and Latta Bros, were represented by a member of the firm l (Mr W. E. lubman).—Evidence for the prosecution was given by Ranger F.. David and Mr W. Maconie, a member of the council.ot..the society, to the effect that they had visited the different mills and had found sawdust emptying into the Tahakopa and Gatlins Rivers— Messrs. Griffin (Hogg and Co.), J R Wilson (Andrew Sharpe. Ltd.), and. W.
