FINES IMPOSED ON PROMOTERS (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 22. In connection with the disposal of a car by lottery by the tramway entertainers in aid of the St, John Ambulance Association, Alexander George Blight was today fined £lO, Richard John Culver was convicted and discharged, and for selling tickets John William Eoworth and Charles Henry Wilson was fined 30s each. The defendants all pleaded guilty, but it was explained that it was not till after the scheme had been publicly launched that the illegality of the system was declared to the promoters, and they had no option but to keep faith with the public.
