THE VICTORIAN CABINET.
DECISION TO CARRY ON.
MELBOURNE, September 21,
Cabinet has decided to carry on. Mr Drew, the United Party member, who moved the Tuesday adjournment motion, said that the matter had gone farther than he intended. He would support the Government on a no-confidence motion.
The Ministry was defeated by 27 votes to 26 on a motion to adjourn the House to discuss the retirement of two members of the Geelong Harbour Trust and the appointment of two others.
WESTERN AUSTRALIA.
THE CASE FOR SECESSION.
PERTH, September 21.
The Parliamentary Select Committee recommended the appointment of a nonparliamentary committee to prepare an address to the King containing a statement of the case for secession and applications to both Houses of the Imperial Parliament for legislation to effect the withdrawal of Western Australia from the federation. The Legislative Council adopted the recommendation.
THE WANGANELLA.
DOCKED FOR REPAIRS,
SYDNEY, ■ September 21. (Received Sept. 21, at 11 p.m.) The Wanganella has been docked for repairs, and her sailing for Wellington has been postponed until Saturday.
