INSTALLATION IN LONDON

RUGBY, September 19. ■ (Received Sept. 20, at 5.5 p.m.) The general post office engineers have lust completed the installation of a new type of telephone switchboard, whereby London subscribers can obtain a trunk call to any part of Great Britain practically as quickly as they can get a local number. The principle on which tms new “ on demand ” system works is that the same operator who accepts the call carries the connection right through to its destination.
