COMMUNITY SINGING

Tho community singing session will take place in the Empire Theatre (by courtesy of the management) to-morrow from 12.30 to 1.30 p.m. _ The “sing” last week was one of the biggest to date, and it is evident that community singing is growing in popularity. It is expected that another large audience will gather to-morrow, when Mr H. P. Desmoulins will be the leader, and Miss Rita Holmes will be at the piano. Miss Tui Salt will sing two Maori songs, “ Waiata Poi ” and “ Hinemoa Love Song.” Miss Salt sang at one of the sessions recently, and her Maori numbers were such a success that the committee has been requested to have these numbers repeated. The committee appeals to listeners-in to send in donations either in goods or money, no matter how small, they would be very much appreciated, and as there is no doubt that listeners-in derive much pleasure from tho “sings” it is only fitting that they should help. All donations should be sent to the secretary, care Charles Begg and Co., Ltd., or to the Empire Theatre. The amount received will be handed to the Mayor’s Unemployment Fund.
