Burnside, September 20. Fat Cattle.—Over 210 head were yarded. ’ Amongst the entry some pens of particularly prime bullocks, and the yarding _ as a whole was much superior in quality to late weeks, practically the , whole yarding consisting of prime and medium-weight bullocks. There was only a small proportion of cows and heifers, these being inadequate for the demand. Prices opened on a par with last week’s rates, but quickly recovered owing to the presence of outside buyers. Taken as a whole, the great bulk of the yarding was sold at prices ranging from 15e • to 20s per head above last week’s rates. Fat Sheep.—A fairly large yarding, 1846 coming under the hammer, the quality of which was good. There was a large percentage of wethers, the great bulk of which consisted of medium weights with a few pens of heavies, while the ewes offered were mostly good butchers’ sorts with only odd pens of unfinished sorts. Prices opened with a drop of 2s per head for wethers, and about 3s for ewes, and this drop in values continued until the last race, when ewes recovered about Is per head.
