YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION
- ■ INTERHOUSE SPORTS CLUB. The final contest in the series of interhouse team games competition was played on Monday evening in the Y.W.C.A. gymnasium. The various relay races were very keenly contested, and the excitement at times was intense. The Kia Ora team showed its usual high standard of play, and won four first places and one second place out of the five events. Sargoods improved wonderfully on Monday night, and was placed first equal with Kia Ora on’two occasions. The team also secured two third places. Moana scored one first and three thirds, which brought the team even with D.S.A., which did better at the beginning of the season. After the finals had been played off, fruit salad and cream were served, and the three cups were then presented by the president (Mrs Mackey Begg) to Miss Quinn, the captain of the Kia Ora team. Miss Quinn then made a short speech, in which she thanked her girls for the way they had worked to better themselves both in the basket ball and games competitions. , . , .. „ The following are the winners of the The New Zealand Wax Vestas Cup for Combined Points. —Kia Ora 71 points, Sargoods 39 points, Moana 38 points. The Richard Hudson Cup for Basket Ball.—Kia Ora 32 points, Sargoods 30 points, Peuroses 24 points, .ri. P °The P. R. Sargood Cup for Team Games. —Kia Ora 39 points, D.S.A. lo points, Moana 15 points, Defiance 1* points, Sargoods 9 points, Clarendon 8 points, O.F.H. 4 points, D.I.C, 2 points. Another event which is being looked forward to is the basket ball tournament which will be held at the Otago Girls High School on Saturday. This will be played in two grades, and the ninneis and runners-up in both grades will play the Blue Triangle teams.
