“THE SOVIET FALLACY”

TO THE EDITOS. Sm—Mr Neilson says in your issue of September 4 that the administrators of Soviet Russia have established the basis of a new system of social economy. Yes, at what cost have they upset Czardom to become greater tyrants than ever existed before? They have executed or exiled their intellectuals, and there are no intelligent men left in that deluded country to navigate their ship of State to a safe harbour, and it is being driven to a condition of chaos. Mr Neilson says he knows nothing of the millions that have been spent on revolutionary propaganda. Has not the Soviet its paid emissaries, even in this little country of ours, trying to poison our minds against the Mother Country which has sent us out to the waste places of the earth and by industry and thrift to establish and make homes for ourselves and children? Are we going to allow foreigners to step n and dictate to ns? If these people are so enamoured with Russia and her principles why do they not go there and help the unfortunate people in that country who are badly in need of all the assistance they can get and leave us to enjoy the freedom God has given us? We have treated strangers in our midst as the Bible has directed us, and they turn and bite the hand that feeds them, thankless to the country that gives them a home and less thankful to God, Who has directed their footsteps to these shores. If we take Israel as the key with which to open the Bible we will make some wonderful discoveries that we have not realised in the past. If we look at an ancient map of Europe w r e will see written across the north-east portion, in place of Russia, Gog and Magog. This may include Germany, and in the light of the present day and of the attitude of Germany towards the Jews I think it does. Now, to those who are sufficiently interested and are believers in the Bible thev will find the whole of this subject dealt with in Ezekiel, chapters xxxviii and xxxix. 1 am sorry for those who do not believe in the Bible and treat it ns mythical nonsense, and this line of discussion will be no use to them. Nevertheless, what is foretold there will assuredly take place, and the nations are now placing themselves in the position for the consummation of Scripture about to be fulfilled. As Mr Neilson and bis Soviet friends appear to have a grudge against the British Empire, may I quote the following:—“Mr Justice Field, of the United States,-while in Canada, said: ‘Wherever Britain plants her foot she at once establishes order, she makes laws, she protects life and properly, and those who place themselves under that flag stay under it, assured that they can sit under their own vine and fig tree. That is the secret of the British Empire, that she stands up for order, for the sacredness of human life, for the protection of every interest, however humble.’ ” —I am, etc., Israel. Green Island, September 5.
