PROFESSIONAL CLUB’S RACE. The Otago Athletic and Cycling Club conducted; the twelfth of its road races on Saturday over the 50-mile course from Beale’s Hotel, Green Island, to Henley, Berwick, Woodside.. Outram, Wairongoa, Wingatui, Riccarton, via Mosgiel Junction and return to Green Island. A cold wind was blowing from the south, and the riders made slow time on the outward trip to Henley. A good field of 20 riders faced the starter as follows: F. G. Morgan, F. M'Donald (I9min), W. Lucas, G. 0. Johnstone, H. Pine (ISJmins), A. C. E. Wills (ISJmin), C. -Turnbull (lljmin), V. Scott, M. Beale (OJmin), H, Co.oper, J. Kennedy (sJmin), D. O’Brien, A. J. Hay (Simin), R. Wil-son-Pyne, C. Hansen (3min), A. J. Brown, M. Cannon (2min), W. Garnon, T, Brosnan (Umin), A. Ralston (ecr). The limit men left at 2 p.m. On the outward trip Hansen left Wilson-Pyne and joined O’Brien and Hay at the Coach and Horses, The others were still in groups but at Allanton Johnstone and: Lucas joined Pine, Morgan, and M'Donald. Johnstone, Lucas, and M'Donald crossed the Henley bridge at 3.1 p.m., Wills and Turnbull at 3hr 2min 30sec, Morgan and Pine (who had dropped back) at 3,4, Kennedy, Beale, Scott, Harrison, Hay, O’Brien at 3.6, Cooper at 3.6.30, Cannon, Wilson-Pjme, Brosnan at 3.8, Ralston, Brosnan, and Garnon’at 3.9.30. Turnbull retired on the run to Berwick, and M'Donald soon after. At Maungatua Lucas w'as 100 yards ahead of ' Hay, O’Brien, Hansen, Beale, with Cooper just behind, and Cannon, Wilson-Pyne, and Brosnan just in sight. Johnstone retired here. At Outram O’Brien led Beale, Lucas, as 4 Hay, but the latter punctured at North Taieri, and O’Brien dropped back at the aerodrome, and Hansen was leading Beale and Lucas. Hansen dropped back a little at Wingatui, and Lucas went out from Beale and led through Mossriel Junction, but took the wrong road., Wilson-Pyne appeared- on the scene here, and led on. to the Main road at East Taieri from Hansen, Cannon, and O’Brien. Wilson-Pyne was riding very strongly, and onened up a good lead, coming over Saddle Hill, while O’Brien, Beale, and Hansen were at the water trough and Cannon 100 yards further back. O’Brien was second over the top from Beale, with Hansen and Cannon in behind, and Cooper leading a bunch ,at the trough._ At the Coach and Horses Cannon rode in second place from Hansen, but the latter passed nim at the- Brickworks.. Wilson-Pyne rode home an easy winner from Hansen, with Cannon third. The officialplacings were:—R. Wilson-Pyne, riding time 2hr 25min lOsec, 1:C, Hansen, riding time 2hr 27min 16sec, 2; M. Cannon, riding time 2hr 26min 16 l-ssec, 3; M. Beale, riding time 2hr 30min 59sec, 4; D. O'Brien, riding time 2hr 27min 59 l-ssec, 5;_H. Cooper, 2hr 30min 42 l-ssec, 6; J. Kennedy, riding time 2hr 31min 2sec, 7: W. Garnon, riding time 2hr 31min 42 l-ssec, 8; A. Ralston, riding time 2hr 30min 12 2-ssec, 9; T. Brosnan. riding time 2hr 31min 42 3-ssec. 10. Fastest time was gained by R. Wilson-Pyne, with M, Cannon second and C. Hansen third. PACIFIC CLUB. The Pacific Amateur Cycling Club held a successful time trial to -Henley and back from Green Island on Saturday. The fastest times were:—D. M'Callum (Ihr 28min 17sec) 1, G. Foster (Ihr 30min 30sec) 2, A. Blackie (Ihr 33min 37sec) 3, D. Smart (Ihr 34min 13sec) 4, C. G. Lucas (Ihr 34min 48sec) 5, M. Patterson (Ihr 35min Bsee) 6, J. Kilner (Ihr 37min 31eec) 7. J. Blackie (Ihr 37mm 45scc) 8. A sealed handicap was run in conjunction with the race and resulted: —D. M'Callum 1, F. Greenfield 2, D. Smart 3.
