Stanley Bingen is very veil at present, and will be hard to beat the first time he carries his speed on an even gait.. Craganour had more than his winning margin in hand when winning the Queen Mary Handicap at Addington on Saturday, and the Wellington-owned pacer gives every promise * of reaching the tightest cl|ss races before-the present season has riin its course. ... ~ o Nelson’s Victory registered a hne performance in the International Handicap oii Saturday.' He was badly placed when the field settled down, as he failed to go away right. Once he hit his straps he paced very resolutely, and could be named as the winner over a furlong from home. He should win again very soon. Linkman is'not guite ready to see out a soundly-run two-mile race. . From the 12 yards mark in the Dash Handicap at Addington to-morrow John Jinks is likely to be the medium of heavy paced a good race at Addington on Saturday, and the Wrack mare gives every indication of being an early winner. / . , Red Shadow was pacing brilliantly oyer the last little bit in the big race at Addington on Saturday, and just failed to catch Sir. Guy.. J. Bryce should have a good season with the Travis Asworthy horse, who is now owned by Mrs M. Harrall, the owner of Royal Silk. r ,

Jewel Pointer’s satisfactory showing at the Auckland June meeting, together with the fact that he has been let out a second over various distances, will encourage hia connections to keep him going with a view.to the tight-class races later on. Jewel Pointer now gets in on the limit in the New Zealand Cup, and ; if he continues to improve in his training, his owner, Mr D. Brideson, will consider sending him -to Addington for the race in November.

Impromptu, who is now trained at Glaudelands by his owner C. Moran, promises to add a lot of interest to the principal races’ in Auckland during the next few months. In the early part of the season Impromptu won two handicaps over a mile and a-quarter, beating Harold Logan at New Brighton, when' in receipt of 36 yards, and forcing the champion to go 2min 38 2-ssec. Impromptu also baa a placed two miles record slightly better than 4min 21sec, so that off his new marks, 2min 43sec and 4rain 28sec, he is given every inducement to tackle the best opposition. When Pegaway commenced his four-year-old career at Epsom last August he was assessed on 2min 21see,, 2min. 57sec, and 4min 49sec for a mile, a mile and aquarter and two miles respectively, but be quickly reached a more difficult assessment line by winning two races. As the season advanced Pegaway made further progress, winning over all distances, and he begins this season, on 2min 12sec, 2min 46sec, and 4min 32sec. With another year on to him Pegaway promisee to reach a very high standard before the present season ends.
