COMMUNITY SINGING
This week’s community sing will be held to-morrow in the Empire Theatre (by courtesy of the management) from 12.30 to 1.30 p.m. Mr H. P. Desmoulins, who is to be the leader, promises something out of the ordinary, and with Miss Rita Holmes at the piano a good hour’s sing is assured. The “ Modern Grandmother ” has consented to give a talk on her travels through New Zealand. These sings are still growing in popularity every week, and it is to be hoped that there will be an even larger attendance tomorrow. The collections so far have been fairly good, but the committee still appeals to the listcners-in to send in any donation, no matter how small, either in goods or cash, to the secretary, care of Beggs, 21 Princes street, or to the Empire Theatre. All gifts will be acknowledged over the air, The collections are for the Mayor’s Unemployment Fund, and it is to be hoped everyone will contribute liberally.
