JOINT PEACE TIME COUNCIL

JUNIOR RED CROSS In connection with Junior Red Cross activities Sister Kirkpatrick reports that during the month health talks were held at the following schools; —High Street, Kaikorai, Mornington, Arthur Street, and Caversham, four classes being held weekly at each school. The first aid class at the Otago Girls’ High School continues to do good work, the practical work being conducted by Miss Sew Hoy. A demonstration in stretcher drill was given by Messrs Ross and Flawn. At Coluniba College a class in home nursing is being conducted. Junior Red Cross work is being carried on by the circles at King Edward Technical and Columba Colleges, and at Kensington and Forbury schools. Parcels are collected for various families by NorthEast Valley, Musselburgh, Maori Hill, Kaikorai and Arthur Street School circles and at St. Hilda’s and King Edward Technical Colleges. A donation of os was received from the Otago Girls’ High School for the purchase of vegetables for two families. Addresses have been delivered at Musselburgh to two branches of the Home Economics Association, There was a good attendance when an address on “ The History of Antiseptic and Their Uses in Cases of First Aid,” was given. A demonstation followed.

Special cases of ex-servicemen have been placed under the care of Sister Kirkpatrick and are receiving atention. Pleasing reference to the quality of this work has been made by the Returned Soldiers’ Association.
