ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS
Some little time ago a fatality occurred in Auckland as a result of amateur workmanship and the use of inferior and unsuitable materials in an electrical installation. The attention of the Dunedin City Corporation has been drawn to the extensions and repairs which are being carried out in this district by unskilled and unlicensed amateurs. It is apparent that the legal and physical dangers attaching to unskilled work of ’this sort are not as widely known as is desirable, and there is a growing tendency on the part of electricity consumers to purchase wiring materials, such as flexible cords, switches, and pings with . the intention of installing them unaided by licensed wiremen. Such action renders the offender liable to prosecution' for carrying out wiring work while not being the holder of a license to do so, and it also places both the amateur electrician and the members of his household in danger of serious personal injury if the work is done in an unsafe or unskilful manner.
