MRS BLACK’S PRESENTATION
In the council chambers at the Town Hall to-night a presentation will be made to Mrs R. S. Black by the citizens of Dunedin. This is the outcome of a movement which was begun subsequent to the mayoral election and which had for its object the recognition of Mrs Blade’s outstanding services to the community during her term as Mayoress. The gift that has been chosen is one which should be highly appreciated by the recipient, and should also meet with the approval of those who contributed. It is in the form of a casket, the lid of which is made of silver and greenstone, and upon this is raised a symbolic figure. In addition to the inscription, the city coat of arms and the Black crest are engraved on the lid. Lady Ferguson will make the presentation, and an attractive musical programme will be presented. No charge_ will be made for admission, as it is desired that all citizens who wish to do honour to Mrs Black will have an opportunity of attending, irrespective of whether they were able to subscribe towards the cost of the gift or not.
