(Peb United Press Association.)
TIMARU, June 30. In a wrestling contest to-night Count Varga defeated “Whiskers” Blake by two falls to one. Groat interest was evinced in the contest, the house being crowded. Varga secured a fall in- the third round with a full headlock and body press brought* about by a succession of hcadlocks. 1 Blake equalised in the fifth round, bringing Varga down heavily with a flying tackle and securing an easy fall, Varga again gof a series of headlocks in the sixth, throwing Blake and pinning him with a body press. Varga annoyed the crowd by pulling Blake s whiskers and punching, and the win was not altogether popular. Blake caused Varga a good deal of concern with a succession of short arm scissors and a Japanese leg bar which took a good deal of breaking.
