ATTEMPT TO BLOW SAFE
EXPLOSIVES USED UNSUCCESSFULLY. (Peb United Press Association;) PALMERSTON N"., June !216. ; Explosives were used on the safe of the Manawatu Club on Sunday night, but the attempt failed. The walls of the office were freely bespattered with plasticine, which was used to pack the explosives in the keyhole. Entrance to tb« premises was gained through a back window. This is the fifth occasion on which burglars have used explosives on safe» within a radius of 50 miles of Palmerston North -within the last month- or two; All the attempts have been made durinj week-ends.
