The opinion that matters commercially are picking up and that the world is on the eve of an era of gradually increasing prosperity was expressed by Mr Julian B. Foster, American Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, who was one of the guests of honour at a farewell luncheon tendered by the English-Speak-ing Union to-day. \ ■ Mr Foster said that undoubtedly the two leaders in -the reconstruction era would be the United States and jGreat Britain!
