CRICKET CONTROVERSY
LEG THEORY BOWLING BOARD OF CONTROL CRITICISED fUnited Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, June 14. (Received June 14, at 10.5 p.m.) Dr Eric Barbour, a leading cricket authority in Sydney, writing in the Herald, says: “We have to thank the Board of Control for its masterly inactivity in allowing the Marylebone Club to frame a report on ‘ bodyline ’ bowling solely from the evidence of its own men. In that respect the Marylebone Club has run true to form. The Board of Control here has been guilty of neglect in its primary duty of maintaining the dignity of Australian cricket and has allowed the minds of the M.C.C. to be distracted between a sense of loyalty and a sense of duty to the game. The M.C.C. has been swayed by the reports of Mr Warner, Mr Palairet, and Jardine into an attitude from which it will find it difficult to withdraw.” CANCELLATION OF TOUR CONSIDERED A POSSIBILITY MELBOURNE, June 14. (Received June 14, at 10.5 p.m.) Prominent cricket administrators de dare that they would not be surprised if the Loudon representative of the Board of Control is instructed to discontinue arrangements for the next tour of England by an Australian eleven. The M.C.C. report will be considered by the Board of Control on September 21.
