FARMER'S DELUSION
DISCLOSURE AT INQUEST HUNDREDS OF ARTICLES SWALLOWED. LONDON, June 9. (Received June 9, at 9.35 p.m.) An inquest at Cheshire revealed 497 articles in a local farmer’s stomach. His family had no suspicion that he was swallowing things until he was operated upon. The articles included 200 nails, 43 gramophone needles, six teaspoons, six brace buckles, some money, three door keys, a live revolver bullet, three penknives,' ten safety pins, six bolts, a buttonhook, a motor car tyre valve, four studs, nine screws, and seven curtain rings. The evidence showed that the man was suffering from the delusion that his stomach was too smooth. A verdict of death by misadventure was returned.
