SAVOY MUSICAL PROGRAMME
So successful was Mr John Kennedy’s recent season at the Savoy that he has been engaged to sing again this week. This pleasing tenor is shortly to leave Dunedin, and it is appropriate that he should make his final appearances at the Savoy, where he was so favourably received by patrons. • He is a young man of qualities of . voice and appearance,, and in his selection of songs he shows a nicety • of judgment, appealing to all classes of listeners. His main item this week will be Mendelssohn’s “On Wings of Song,” the violin obbligato to be given by Miss Ethel Wallace. His other songs, mamng a decidedly attractive programme, are “ I Know of Two Bright Eyes,” “ Liege Lady,” and “It Is Only a Tiny Garden” (Hazel Wood). A varied programme has also been arranged for the Savoy instrumental trio, under Miss Rita Holmes’s leadership, the items including “ Hungarian Rhapsody, No. 2 ” (Liszt), “ Light Cavalry” (Suppe), and an old waltz, “ Violets ” {Waldteusel).
