HIGHLAND BALL AT MOSGIEL
Under the auspices of the Taicri Highland Pipe Band, a successful Highland ball was held at Mosgiel last night in the Coronation Hall. The building was crowded with dancers and supporters of the band. To the strains of the pipes the grand inarch moved ofl‘, led by the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs W. E. M'Lean). Pipe-major C. Hendry and Sergeant-piper W. Chirnside played the music for the march, which was directed by Drum-major L. Lloyd. The march was a picturesque one, the uniforms of the pipers and the bright coloured dresses of the ladies being very attractive. The duties of masters of ceremonies were carried out by Pipers Thompson, W. Blackie, J. Benton, and A. M'Cloy. Mr John M. Stavert, as secretary, gave considerable help to the committee. Pipe-major W. Budge and Drum-major Brown represented the Dunedin Pipe Band.
