A pony sold at £6, and fowl wheat at 11s a bag. ; MOTHERS’ UNION. A thanksgiving service Ori the occasion of the, first birthday of -the St. Mary's Mothers’ Union was held yesterday. Members of the Mothers’ Union of Oamafu were present. Holy commurp ion was Celebrated at 11 by the H6v. Mr Newton, the preacher being Archdeacon j. D. Russell (Oamartl). A luncheon Was held In the parish hall, after which Dr A. R. Falconer,; diboesuri president of the Mothers' Union, addressed the ladies present. Another devotional service was then held in the church by the Rev. Mr Newton. Afternoon tea followed, during which the-birthday oaks was cut ,by Mrs Dobson, who is Palmerston’s representative on the Diocesan Council. The visitors later left for Oamaru. The festivities of the day-were concluded at evensong, which was conducted by the Vlcaf (the ReV. Mr Newton). ■ . -
