DOMINION EXPORTS
QUESTION OF RESTRICTION A POINT CLEARED UP (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) CANBERRA, March 22. (Received March 22, at 10 p.m.) Mr J. G. Latham, the AttorneyGeneral, answering questions in the House of Representatives in regard to butter restriction, emphasised that the question of restriction first came from New Zealand, where the producers desired limitation of foreign imports, but the proposal which had been under consideration for the past few weeks in New Zealand for 6 per cent, restriction on Dominion exports and 12 per cent restriction on foreign came from Britain. New Zealand certainly did not propose restriction on Dominion exports. BRITISH CHEESE INDUSTRY. EFFECT OF IMPORTS. LONDON, March 21. (Received March 22, at 10 p.m.) A deputation of the Cheshire Cheese Federation, representing cheese makers producing 30,000 tons a year attended the House of Commons and saw the Conservative agricultural committee. The deputation urged that there must be restriction of Dominion imports, if possible a voluntary offer, to save the British industry. The committee decided to make representations to the Ministry of Agriculture.
