LOAN CONVERSION
NEW ZEALAND ISSUES POSITION REASSURING. LONDON, August 26. (Received August 26, at 9 p.m.) Commenting on the projected visit to London of Mr Downie Stewart and Mr A. D. Park the Financial News says: “The position is sufficiently reassuring to make possible the earlier conversion of New Zealand issues on reasonably favourable terms. It is doubtful, however, whether a spectacular saving could be achieved, for the Dominion in the past has rarely had to borrow on really expensive terms. Its credit at the moment is approximately on a 4J per cent, basis.”
