THE 4YA WAVELENGTH

TO THE EDITOR.,

Sir, —I am in accord with what “ South Otago ” has written. It is not only outside Dunedin that the wavelength interferes with other stations. The interference' is noticed in Dunedin. Other listeners to whom I was talking on the subject were in accord with me in the view that the sooner 4YA goes back to its old 650 k.c. the better. We cannot get any satisfactory results from the 13 stations between 6 p.tti. and 8 p.m., when dinner music and news reports are supplied. This may satisfy those who like it, but I am not one of them. —I aip, etc., i Radio Fan. (King 1 street, August 24. TO THE EDITOR. _ Sir, —May I endorse the remarks of ■your correspondent “ South Otago ” concerning the new wave length of 4YA broadcasting station? The change in wave-length was much appreciated while the Olympic Games were in progress, but with the new wave-length reception, from 4YA is spoilt by the interference of 2CO (Corowa, New South Wales), not 7ZL . Hobart) as suggested by “ South Otago. This station at Corowa is 50 per cent, more powerful than 2YA, and 15 times as powerful as 4YA. The present 4YA wave-length may suit listeners in Dunedin, but is not appreciated by country dwellers, who are driven (and it does not take much driving) to tune in to 2YA or 3YA or one of the Australian stations. There are still a few gaps on the dial: why not choose one of them for 4YA.—I am, etc., Country Listener. Ranfurly, August 24.
