HAWKE’S BAY DEFEATS EAST COAST (Per United Press Association.) , GISBORNE, August 25. Hawke’s Bay defeated the East Coast at / Ruatoria to-day by 14 points to 8. The visitors bad the lighter pack, but their backs were a better combination and were speedier. In the first half Smith and Grant scored for the visitors, Howell missing both kicks. Fraser then ran through the visitors from his own twenty-five, and Ncpia converted In the second spell for Hawke’s Bay Howell kicked a penalty goal and Bradley scored, Howell converting. For Coast Ncpia kicked a goal from a penalty.
