RENT ADJUSTMENTS

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —Your paragraph that landlords are meeting tenants in the adjustment of rent makes pleasant reading, but my experience is the same as that of the writer “Tenant.” There are some landlords who are contemptibly endeavouring to evade the intention of the Act. I would ask “Tenant" to wait and see what action our local Chamber of Commerce takes in this mattter. No doubt a remit will come up at its next meeting, forwarded by the Auckland Chamber, pressing for the formation of a special hoard of city men or an appeal court in each centre. With the weight of the various chambers behind the request, “ Tenant ” may be able to appeal to a local board without much expense, if he does not go bankrupt in the meantime. —I am, etc., Tenant No. 2. Dunedin, August T 3. ,
