THE RIOTOUS DEMONSTRATIONS

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Thanks for information concerning the date of the demonstrations. Now we can see a little more clearly. The resolution “to co-operate with the Labour Party in the demonstrations now being organised by that body to protest against the policy of the Government ’ was passed on April 1. The demonstrations were duly held on April 14 and 15 in Auckland and on May 10 in Wellington. Rioting ensued, and you, Sir, know how the Labour leaders solemnly declared that they had nothing whatever to do with these happenings, and tried to blame the Government. This is a good illustration of the Labour Party propaganda. The epuntry is in a had way. Instead of facing the facts and helping the Government the Labour Party deliberately fosters discontent and plays on the people’s misfortune,-and now is the psychological time to go round asking the people to sign a petition calling on the Government to resign. Who will be deceived thereby?—l am, etc., Kai. Kaitangata, July 3.
