RUGBY FOOTBALL

REPLACEMENT AND HALF-TIME RULINGIi SOUTHLAND UNION’S CRITICISM. (Pkr United Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, July 4. The New Zealand Rugby Union’s recent instructions regarding replacement and half time rulings came in for further discussion by the Southland Union at its weekly meeting this evening. Members expressed the opinion that at the previous meeting they had dealt with a serious question too hastily and decided to communicate immediately with the parent body protesting against the new rulings and urging that steps be at once taken to have the position eased. Mr A. J. Geddes said the government of Rugby in New Zealand was different from that in England, and that over here the authorities should be given more latitude. He described the new rulings as pin-pricking side issues.
