OBITUARY
MR JAMES M‘K. POWER The death occurred at his residence, Meadowbank street, Mornington, on Sunday evening, of Mr James M'Kinistry Power, who was one of the best known commercial travellers in Otago. Mr Power was a native of Dunedin, and he joined the firm of Messrs Sargood, Son, and Ewen in 1883. From then until his retirement front business :n 1921, he was a well-known figure in commercial circles from Tiraani to Bluff. He was also a member of long standing of the Dunedin Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen’s Association. In the last decade of last century Mr Power played Rugby football, being a meritber of the Dunedin Club, and he was also interested in the sport of yachting on the Otago Harbour. Mr Power, who was a bachelor, is survived by a brother. Mr P. H. Power, of Mornington. MR JOHN JOHNSTON The death occurred last week of Mr John Johnston, for many years managing director of Messrs J. Johnston and Sons, engineers and foundry proprietors, of Invercargill. Mr Johnston, who had been ill for a considerable time, was born at Port Chalmers in 1873, and arrived at Invercargill in 1880 with his parents. His father, Mr Joseph Johnston, established the Vulcan Foundry with which business the family name has been ever since associated. From his early youth Mr Johnston was closely identified with the firm of which his father was the chief proprietor, and when it was registered as a company he bccamu'managing director.
