RECTOR OF STIFFKEY
CASE FOR DEFENCE OPENED “A TROUBLESOME BUSYBODY.” LONDON, May 19. Mr Levy, in opening the defence for Mr Davidson, the rector of Stiffkey, said that Mr Davidson deemed it his duty to conduct prevention rather than rescue work among young girls in London, Gwendoline Harris was only one of a legion he helped who Mt the hand that fed her. He often gave girls hia bed and walked the streets all night. Admittedly his habit of kissing girls and women on the cheeks and forehead was stupid and might lead to suspicion. He was: certainly a troublesome busybody and annoyed the waitress Dorothy Burns and hundreds of others, but he did not make improper suggestions. The case was adjourned.
