BILLIARDS EXHIBITION
A billiard match between Mr C. Burtenshaw (professional) and Mr A. Bowie (ex-amateur champion of New Zealand), of the Returned Soldiers’ Club, was played in the Returned Soldiers Club Rooms last evening before a large attendance of spectators, including a few ladies. Mr L. Mercier, as chairman ot the Soldiers’ Billiards Committee, briefly welcomed those present and extended to Mr Burtenshaw the thanks of the association for his friendly spirit in helping the Returned Soldiers’ Association, and to Mr Bowie for his willingness at all times to bo of service to his club. The game, ■which was one of 700 up, was eventually won by Mr A. Bowie by 700 points to 528. The best breaks of the evening were as follow's: — Burtenshaw. —41, 35, 30, 23, 25, 25, and 20. Bowie.—7l, 49, 45, 44, 42 (unfinished), 39. 33, 30, 27, and 23. Mr Burtenshaw did not play up to his usual form.
