(Hear, hear.) Mr Rodger would go out on leave of absence on June 11; on October 11 he would have reached' the age of 65 years, and under the regulations he must retire from the service. The board was losing a servant who was more than a servant —he was a friend to the board, to the committees, and to all with whom he had had to work. He had a keen sense of his duty, and he had carried out that duty. Members endorsed the remarks made by the chairman. Mr Rodger said he would take that opportunity of thanking the members of the board and his fellow-employees for the consideration they had shown to him during the time he had been in the service. He had been for 30 years in the employ of the board, and from first to last his experience had heen that the board members had treated him exceptionally well, besides which, in the criticism of his work, they had been fair and generous, making his task very pleasant indeed. Mr E. H. Sharp, secretary of the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association, has resigned on account of ill-health. Mr. Sharp served with the Otago Regiment in France, attaining the rank of captain, and receiving the Military Cross.
