(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAPANUI, May 18. SHEEP DRIVE. The sheep drive conducted by the local returned, soldiers was .a complete success, the district farmers responding in a, generous manner. On Friday morning a full, truck of prime sheep was railed-to Burnside, where they will be dressed and distributed to deserving cases under the direction of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association. A communication has been, received from the secretary of the association thanking the donors, and giving. an assurance that the mutton would go into homes that were in greatest need. STOCK SALE. On Friday afternoon Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held a sale of stock in their yards, when there was only , a small yarding and a very moderate attendance. The following sales were made:—Thirty wethers, 11s; 12 wethers 14s; 125 fiiixedsex lambs, 10s 6d; 57 ewe lambs, 9s 8d; 96 wether lambs, 9s Id; 70 mixed-sex lambs, 8s 7d; dairy cows up to £5. , RUGBY FOOTBALL. On Saturday afternoon the Tapanui team met and defeated the -WaikoikoiKelso fifteen by 19 points to nil after a very moderate exhibition of the game. As the ground became very slippery and the ball greasy, the game was confined chiefly to the forwards. M'Knight scored three tries and Kennedy one, whilst Faulks kicked a penalty goal and converted two tries.
