CENTRAL OTAGO
(From Our Own Correspondent.) ALEXANDRA, May 18. CENTRAL OTAGO PRESBYTERY. The Central Otago Presbytery met on Tuesday at Alexandra, the moderator, the Rev. J. S. Murray, presiding. The Rev. A. R. Chisholm, convener of a commission to visit the Lauder parish in regard to the ministerial tenure of the Rev. G. H! Crockett, reported that ’the congregation expressed its appreciation of the services of Mr Crockett and desired him to remain another year. * : The presbytery concurred in the nomination of the Rev. A. M'Neur as moderator of the synod for the ensuing year vice the Rev. W. R. Hume. In connection with the Hawea-Wanaka vcharge it was decided to ask the Home Missions Committee for a grant of £25 .toward# the salary of an assistant minister. The Rev. S. D. Baird (Waipiata) was appointed .to represent this presbytery on the Advisory Board. The following minutes in respect to two eminent clergymen of the church whose deaths occurred recently:— “ The presbytery of Central Otago records its great admiration for the life and work of the late Rev. Dr Rutherford Waddell, its profound gratitude to God for the gift of such a gentleman for a long period to the - church in New Zealand, for his many services to the churches in this presbytery, and instructs the clerk to convey to his widow and daughter an expression of deep sympathy with them in their bereavement.” “The presbytery has learned with regret of the sudden death of the W* R. Hume, late clerk to the Clutha Presbytery, and minister at Warepa. The presbytery records its sincere sympathy with its sistef presbytery and with the bereaved churches and records its appreciation of the service rendered by Mr Hume to the compiler of the jubilee history of the church in Central Otago.” .
