WOOING THE GODDESS OF SLEEP

PRISE It is only within recent years that scientists have, been devoting attention to the effect of sleep—or the want of it l — tlie human body, and it is only now being adequately realised how essential is sound sleep to good, health and a full life. When it is considered that the individual who lives to 70 years of age spends 25 years of his life in sleep, the state of the bed and the nature of the sleep it promotes are very important factors in our lives. The down is washed in boiling water and sterilised before going into the quilts, while the patterns of the coverings, in art silk and other choice materials, delight the eye. The industry has assumed such’ large proportions that Messrs Arthur Ellis and Co,. Ltd., create their own colour effects, alid the materials are then made to their order by the manufacturers in Manchester, England. The results thus obtained are not only original, but provide for any conceivable colour scheme required. Messrs Arthur Ellis and Co., Ltd., are to be commended for their enterprise—it is one of the few industries of this nature in New Zealand—and the public will no doubt show its appreciation by encouraging the production of this scientific bedding.
