DUNEDIN ORPHANS’ CLUB
EMPIRE NIGHT The fortnightly meeting of the Dunedin Orphans’ Club, held in St. Paul’s Schoolroom last evening, was set aside as Empire Night, and in view of this the programme presented was entirely of a national character. Old favourites such as “ Motherland,” “ The Battle ' Eve.” “Drake Goes West,” and “The Guardship ” were among the items rendered, all meeting with the wholehearted appreciation of the large number of brethren present. A special fcatur'e of the evening was an address delivered by the Rev. W. Allen Stevely.on “ Our Empire,” another entertaining item being a humorous sketch, “Military Men," which was presented by Bros. Alec Regan and T. Watson. The newlyJormed orchestra, under the baton of Bro. A. Frost, rendered several enjoyable selections. The following also contributed to the programme;— Bros. J. E. Davies, F. W. Tavendale, L. Borrow, A. M’Donald. H. A. Johnston (songs), Bros. T. and W, Bachop (duet), Bro. C. Gibbons (flute solo), Bro. C. 11. Russell (recitation).
