CHARGE OF THEFT

ALLEGED CONFIDENCE TRICK • TWO MEN REMANDED. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 17. Two men arrived under police escort by the Marama from Sydney this afternoon. Later they appeared before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court. The meu, who were brought from Sydney by Chief Detective Hammond, were Reginald Clarence Williams, alias Reader, aged 36, and Clifford Spencer Dahlin, aged 31. Both were charged with stealing £I2OO from George Montague Poyner, at Whangarei, on August 21 last. The accused were remanded to appear at Whangarei on Tuesday ficxt. Williams was arrested at Brisbane, and Dahlin at a casino 300 miles from Sydney.
